But the move comes after an extensive search by the national stadium which saw Andrew Morris tipped for the top role. Rumours surrounding the venue suggest Morris could not come to an agreement with Wembley on the position.
But a Wembley Stadium spokesperson said its existing arrangements were preferable:
"We have been considering the position of chief executive for Wembley Stadium and have seen some excellent candidates for the role.
"However, the Wembley Board feels that existing arrangements are working well, so pending integration with the FA we have decided to suspend the process and have asked Roger Maslin to continue in the role of acting managing director for the business for the foreseeable future."
