Wembley late to join Xmas battle

Wembley Conference and Exhibition Centre has joined the race for Yuletide business with the launch of its Christmas party package. ‘Let’s party around the world – Christmas 2001’ was unveiled at June’s Meetings & Incentive Travel Show (M&IT) and comprises themed areas such as Las Vegas, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and ancient Egypt. “Those clients that haven’t secured a venue by now will be looking at what is available,” Wembley senior sales manager Tony Charlesworth said. “We took our time in ensuring we had good visuals and every detail planned and it resulted in a lot of interest at M&IT. But if we had launched it any later we would have missed the boat.” As Marketing Event was going to press, Wembley reported that none of the leads picked up at M&IT in June had so far turned into confirmed bookings. One of the first organisers to launch its Christmas party package was The Ultimate Experience. The programme was launched in March and more than 14 December dates have already been sold. The company anticipates more than 58,000 guests to attend parties at its venues, which include The Starship, the Honourable Artillery Company and nine other London attractions.
