Wahaca's 'spoon amnesty' rewards customers with free tacos

Wahaca is bringing its spoon amnesty experience back for yet another year, in a bid to retrieve what appears to be a highly sought after cutlery item.

Each year over 5,000 of Wahaca’s brightly coloured spoons disappear from its restaurants, and throughout the month of January the Mexican food brand is rewarding those who return the cutlery with free tacos.

Participants will receive one of the company’s two new taco varieties, cod achiote with pineapple salsa or pork cheek, which launched this month.

The campaign is also appealing to those who haven’t snuck a spoon out of Wahaca’s doors, with its #SpoonCartoon competition.

People are encouraged to visit a Wahaca restaurant during January, sketch their own #SpoonCartoon creation and share it on social media for the chance to win a year’s supply of the company's tacos.

The spoon amnesty is taking place across Wahaca’s restaurants, which are situated throughout London as well as in Bristol, Manchester and Bluewater.

Wahaca hosted a 12-hour long Day of the Dead Festival at London's Tobacco Dock last November. View our gallery of the event here.
