The 35-foot high installation will remain in situ until Thursday (28 January), with passers-by able to win the chance to stay in it.
The luxury treehouse has been inspired by a Virgin Holidays Wonderlist experience - the Lion Sands Game Reserve treehouse accommodation in South Africa.
According to Virgin Holidays the fully-operational treehouse is one of the most ambitious media stunts in its history. It comes complete with a private balcony, views across the Thames and to St Paul's, its own private chef and a bespoke African design.
The treehouse will be open between 11am-6pm for anyone to visit, while the general public can register their interest online for the chance to enjoy an overnight stay in the building.
The overnight experience includes a six-course private degustation menu by Masterchef contestant Petrus Madutlela, which feautures dishes such as tempura meal worms with induja mayo.
M&C Saatchi Experience have worked with Virgin Holidays to produce the treehouse.
Last summer Virgin Holidays and agency RPM devised a competition where consumers took part in its suitcase packing competition for the chance to win a Caribbean holiday.
