Where is it? In the heart of Soho, Urban Golf is situated on Great Pulteney Street.
What is it? Opened just two years ago, the venue boasts six state-of-the-art golf simulators that allow competitors to play on championship golf courses without breaking sweat or leaving the comfort of the venue.
What's it got? The simulators allow guests to stand in an 11ft by 12ft booth, and drive and putt a real golf ball towards a screen. The ball passes through two sensors that detect speed, trajectory and spin. The ball hits the screen then drops to the floor and the shot you played, however embarrassing, is projected on to the course. The venue allows groups of up to 120 people to be involved for the whole evening. Guests can play in teams or individually while they party in the venue. Alongside the simulators is a putting green, bar and chill-out zone complete with contemporary furnishings, allowing clients to host any number of golf-themed creative events.
Anything else? There is no outdated dresscode and even complete novices can enjoy themselves or take part in some PGA professional tuition. Each simulator has a full set of the latest Callaway golf clubs so there's no need to lug heavy equipment through Soho. The venue can also provide nibbles for guests to enjoy while they take to the simulators.
Who has been there? Film producer Eric Fellner, pop stars Geri Halliwell, Jay Kay and The Backstreet Boys, DJ Spoony, fashion designers Oswald Boateng and J Lindberg, and even professional golfers including young British stars Luke Donald and Ian Poulter.
How do I get there? Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus tube stations are both within a 10-minute walk from the venue.
