The inaugural event, sponsored by LG, was conceived by entertainment company Universal, CEO of the Formula One Group Bernie Ecclestone and All the Worlds.

It is set to take place in Singapore from 24-26 September 2009 with some 30,000 visitors expected. Two TV show will support the event.

The game plan, according to All the World's chief executive Paul Morrison, is to take the event to circuits across the globe.

"The combination of formula one racing and entertainment is extremely potent. This will perhaps be the world's biggest event series.

"We began talking about the event at Monaco 2008. We spent a lot of time with Bernie drawing up ideas then conducted a feasibility study. We are now expecting to do about 10 more in 2010, all coinciding with F1 races, taking advantage of the broadcasting that goes alongside it."

Acts confirmed for F1 Rocks include the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, No Doubt, Jacky Cheung and ZZ Top.

The UK-based Outside Organisation has been named as the global PR supplier, Event has learnt.

Morrison's history includes establishing T in the Park and bringing in Carling as sponsor of the Reading Festival.
