The sale of the Bar Show together with Theme magazine was agreed on 15 June and follows the purchase of the Publican group of events and publications by UBM from Quantum Business Media earlier in the year (Event, March).
The Bar Show combined with Theme generated £2.1m of revenue and posted £600,000 pre-tax profits for the year ended June. The assets will be integrated into UBM's CMPi division and will now report to chief executive Bernard Gray.
"The financial case is attractive and we have identified operating efficiencies and the opportunity to develop new and existing revenue streams," Gray said.
The sixth Bar Show at Earls Court from 7-8 June attracted over 9,000 visitors.
Exhibitors ranged from interior designers and furniture manufacturers to alcoholic drinks brands and mixers plus audio-visual technology and entertainment. In 2004 the two-day event audited 8,381 visitors and more than 200 suppliers.
Meanwhile William Reed, which acquired The Restaurant Show from Quantum earlier this year (Event, May), has merged it with The Restaurant Game (TRG) - the owner of Restaurant Magazine and hospitality industry business solutions agency, Fourth Hospitality - to form William Reed Hospitality.
The Restaurant Show, which takes place from 19-21 September at Olympia, will now include TRG's Restaurant Live - formerly the A la Carte exhibition owned by Single Market Events.
