Trident buys antiques fairs

Trident Exhibitions has bought two antiques fairs for an undisclosed sum from Cultural Exhibitions.

Trident Exhibitions has bought two antiques fairs for an undisclosed sum from Cultural Exhibitions. The shows are the Buxton Antiques Fair, which takes place from 11-18 May at the Pavilion Gardens, and the Surrey Antiques Fair, which runs from 3-6 October at Guildford Civic Hall. The companies will work together on the fairs for the next two years. “We have no experience in the antiques market so Cultural will be offering us support and advice,” said Trident marketing coordinator Sue Ware. “This working relationship will continue for the second year and hopefully by that time we will have found our feet on the shows.” Cultural will advise on specific industry issues and liaise between exhibitors and sponsors. Both fairs will change in some areas of content, but Ware says these will not be radical. “We are sensitive to what people will want,” she said. “Any changes will enhance the shows.” Cultural chairman Roger Heath-Bullock said: “Trident’s expert team will bring fresh ideas, which I am confident will benefit exhibitors and visitors alike.” Trident has no plans for more acquisitions but Ware said the firm was always on the lookout for potential ventures. “We are not closing the door but it does not form part of our plans at the moment,” she said.
