Moving Venue Management (MVM) was appointed by Visit Britain and Visit London to showcase UK tourism to the Chinese in late July, following the news that Britain had been granted Approved Destination Status by the Chinese government. A group of delegates, which included government officials, journalists and key Chinese travel agents, came to the UK on a four-day tour. They were treated to a reception and dinner that aimed to impress them, while presenting the best of Britain’s tourism offer. To achieve this, MVM chose the Tower of London to stage the event on 25 July, with the Duke of York as the main host. Chefs from the Michelin-starred restaurant Hakkasan, alongside Moving Venue Caterers, served a Chinese meal at the New Armouries. Entertainment was provided by a harp quartet. The event concluded a busy summer for MVM, which has seen the agency entertain almost 9,000 guests in three months. Other activity has included a three-day Global Leadership Forum for Harvard Business School, which comprised a conference for 600 delegates and excursions such as a French food and wine tour around Paris, a trip to Ireland and a private performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Albert Hall. “In the lead-up to the Global Leadership Forum in London we were also catering for more than 4,000 people at the Paris Air Show and managing a Eurostar reinvention party for 900 guests in the covered market of Covent Garden,” said MVM managing director Richard Beggs. “It has been an excellent example of the diverse range of events managed by MVM and a great advertisement for the industry, because our clients identify the value of these events as proven business tools.”
