Jikoni, Marylebone

TV Chef Ravinder Bhogal opened her new Marylebone restaurant, Jikoni, in September. Both the menu, restaurant and interiors are inspired by her love of home-cooked, feel-good food and will feature dishes inspired by British, Asian, East African and Middle Eastern cuisines.

The menu includes an Indian take on the American classic 'Sloppy Joe', made with Herdwick mutton keema, pickled onions and mint chutney, as well as a rice dish which changes daily to celebrate curries of the world. Ravinder will also be serving her innovative take on the classic scotch egg, which became a firm favourite at her 'Supper Club' pop-ups in Whitechapel. These will include a prawn toast quail scotch egg with banana ketchup and pickled cucumber, and a Goan-inspired pork scotch egg served with tomato and ginger chutney and a spicey carrot achaar.

Counter Kitchen, Clerkenwell

Clerkenwell's latest café, Counter Kitchen, launched on 10 October, offering a 'mindfulness eatery' concept centred around clean eating. The menu has a strong Asian influence - for the early starters, there is a range of breakfast pots such as the spiced apple pot, which comes with either Greek or coconut yoghurt, topped with carrot, raisin, linseed and the café's own homemade granola. The lunch menu gets a lot more spicy, offering a range of healthy-but-hearty soups, hot meals and salads, most of which have a definite Asian-inspiration. For example, guests can try dishes such as the 'Kimchi Culture' - a hearty bowl of stewed beef, kimchi, beef broth, tofu, pak choi, ginger and chives served with black rice.

Gymkhana launches delivery service Motu

For a different catering option for your event, consider Motu. The Sethi Siblings, the brains behind Mayfair's Michelin-Starred restaurant Gymkhana, have teamed up with Deliveroo to bring their delicious Indian Cuisine to the doorsteps of those in Fulham, Clapham, Chelsea, Wandsworth, Putney or Battersea. Launching on 17 October, Motu - an affectionate Hindi term meaning 'Fat Man' - will offer classic Indian dishes such as Kashmiri Mutton Shank Roganjosh, Pork Spare Rib Vindaloo and Paneer Butter Masala. 'Feast Boxes' will also be on offer and will include one classic Indian curry, biryani or mixed grill and a selection of fixed sides and condiments.
