Colonnades at the Signet Library, Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s historic Signet Library is opening the Colonnades, a glamourous tea room on 4 June, following a £250,000 refurb. The venue will have its own tea sommelier, Champagne experts and mixologists and an on-site pastry chef.

There will also be a number of private dining options available, including the intimate Minto Room, suitable for a meeting, private afternoon tea experience or dinner for eight people. The traditional Commissioner’s Room seats 40 people for a dinner and the smaller Napier Room has space for 10 people. The Colonnades itself can also be hired exclusively and can cater for 80 people.

The Kitchin, Leith near Edinburgh

Celebrity Chef Tom Kitchin re-opened his Michelin star restaurant, The Kitchin, in January to reveal an extended dining space, private dining room and whisky snug. The restaurant, which originally opened in 2006, displays original stone and brickwork from its historic use as a whisky bond. The whole venue can be hired exclusively for private events of up to 65 people. The private dining space has capacity for a maximum of 20 people.

Hotel du Vin, St Andrews

Boutique hotel brand Hotel du Vin celebrated its one-year anniversary in April after spending £3.5m to open in St Andrews - the Home of Golf. The 36-room property boasts a ballroom with capacity for 160 guests for a drinks reception or 150 theatre-style.

Around 30 guests can enjoy wine tasting with a sommelier, followed by a bespoke menu in the hotel’s private dining room, named the Macallan Boardroom. The hotel is available for exclusive hire itself, subject to availability.
