Spate of shows switch to Excel

Six more shows are moving to Excel. The exhibitions, which include

the Evening Standard, Homebuyers Show will occupy 112,000 sq m of

space.

The Evening Standard Homebuyers Show, The Property Business Show and The

Digital Solutions Show are all switching from Olympia. The others are

Business Startup 2001, planned for 20-21 October, The Digital Camera

Show, from 27-29 November and the UK launch of Paris event IT Storage

Forum, planned for 24-25 April.

"With shows such as IT Storage Forum and Business Startup 2001, it is

clear we are attracting entrepreneurial organisers," said Excel director

of customer services and sales Carolyn Hurley.

International Wine and Spirits Fair announced at the start of the summer

that it was leaving Olympia for Excel (Marketing Event, June). Other

shows to vacate the Earls Court & Olympia group include the London Boat

Show and World Travel Market.

"The decision to come to Excel has been very well received by our

exhibitors not just because of the venue itself but because the

Docklands and surrounding areas are booming in terms of building

activity," The Evening Standard Homebuyers Show spokesman Nick Clarke

said. "The move will open a lot of new doors for us."

Excel is still looking for a replacement for chief executive Iain

Shearer following his decision to step down (Marketing Event,

July/August).
