More than 3,000 musicians will perform fifty separate concerts across the region as part of the celebrations, while Bristol will host a two-day festival with circus, music, performance, dance and games.
The events - collectively known as 'Count Me In' - will provide new opportunities for local people and tourists to experience arts and culture.
"Count Me In is using the power of the London 2012 Games to provide new opportunities and develop a lasting legacy of benefit for the region," said Richard Crowe, London 2012 creative programmer and Count Me In creator.
"[It] enables people to not only celebrate the countdown to the Games but also to develop a high profile, nationally significant, cultural weekend across the South West."
Other Olympic-inspired events happening across the UK this weekend include Bandstand Marathon - a nationwide celebration of music performed by local musicians in their local cities, towns and villages - and 'AND' (Abandon Normal Devices) Festival - a new arts festival for the North West.
