Sky Broadcasting came to the rescue last month after the inaugural Bafta Nominees Reception planned for the Natural History Museum (NHM) looked doomed.

A crisis arose when headline investor sponsor Burberry pulled out, fearing there might be demonstrations against the closure of its factory in Wales.

The decision to cancel the reception for 800 guests in the museum’s Central Hall was taken by Burberry on 3 February, just a week before the planned event.

Sky confirmed it would take over the sponsorship and agency Added Dimension, together with the museum’s in-house event team, was given five days to produce a completely new event that went ahead on 10 February.

The NHM’s head of events and catering, Rupert Ellwood, said: “The whole concept for the event changed and we were able to pull together all our accredited suppliers to redesign it to Sky’s specification.
