The people behind the Showman’s Show have created a regional version of the entertainment industry event. The Showman’s Show North will take place on 6-7 March at The Great Yorkshire Showground. “We have had a lot of requests from event professionals in the North of England and Scotland to bring the Showman’s Show north to serve their part of the country,” said northern show manager Jeremy Lance. “Our plans are more modest than the show in Berkshire, but in response to business demands we will strive to create a forum whereby events practitioners in the North can conduct business and promote themselves.” This year’s show at Newbury Showground on 17-18 October attracted just under 4,000 visitors. Other announcements at the show included Showsec International, which revealed it had been selected as preferred security supplier to the Commonwealth Games in Manchester 2002. Showman’s Show organiser Stephen Lance said: “We have ensured that the show has evolved in terms of the features and our marketing, as it will continue to do, reflecting the dynamics of the industry.” De Boer Structures stepped in to rescue The Showman’s Show Dinner 2001 after the preferred supplier was unable to provide a structure.
