Show floor: On Display

Jennifer Creevy gets the lowdown on a new recyclable carpet, a projection screen in the shape of a hemisphere, a case that turns into a counter and a device designed to lift an eight-foot-wide plasma TV with ease.

Supplier: Screen Expert

Screen Expert, the specialist distributor of projection screens, has teamed up with Lumin Technologies to launch a rear projection screen called Lumin Hemisphere into the UK events market.

The custom-made screen comes with a projector behind or within a globe to create a half or 360-degree sphere that can then be installed with still or moving imagery.

Each screen is designed, fabricated and produced in Germany. The partnership will enable Lumin Technologies - a global company manufacturing high-end projection displays - to tap into the British market.

Screen Expert business manager Neil Wells says: "The quality and innovation that the Lumin products provide, particularly the new screens, opens a new realm of ideas for the use of rear projection."

Supplier: PSCo

PSCo and German manufacturer Mediascreen have produced a portable lifting device that can quickly install the 103" Panasonic Plasma.

Until now the eight-foot wide, 220-kilo 103" has required bespoke lifting, but the Screen Lifter can position it up to three metres in the air at the touch of a button. The device houses the 103" in a flight case on heavy-duty castors that can be manoeuvred by one person. Once in place, pressing a button operates a drive unit to unload the screen and transform into a display stand. The product also enables the customer to rotate the screen to vertical and adjust its height.

The screen has a remote control, and a specially designed LED display allows the technician to know how far from the floor the base of the picture will be.

Supplier: Opex Group

Opex Group's carpet services division Exoplan has introduced recyclable carpets for use at events and exhibitions. Elea Vel carpet is made up of 100% polypropylene that can be broken down into plastic pellets.

The carpet allows customers to achieve environmentally-friendly flooring without any compromise on quality. The carpet has a velour finish that lays without rucks and is durable, but also delivers a quality look and feel. It is available in the standard colours or can be dyed to match any colour required. It can also be printed.

Exoplan managing director Peter Donovan says: "In the past it had been difficult to find a recyclable floor-covering product that could meet the performance, colour and price criteria demanded by our customers. Now we have the answer."

Supplier: Expand

Portable display manufacturer Expand has created the Podium Case - an easy-to-handle transport box that can be turned into a spacious counter for events or exhibitions.

Once the box is opened, the accompanying wooden top is attached and the counter is created. Inside there are four detachable shelves to hold brochures, promotional products or drinks.

The Podium Case can be used open as a counter or closed as a podium. Both versions have wooden or aluminium table tops to choose from. When open it is 123cm wide, 99 cm high and 61cm deep. When closed it is 65cm x 97.5cm x 43.5cm.

The product is equipped with wheels for easy transportation and a wrap with graphics or branding can be added to the front of it.
