Shaka Zulu, the £5.5m two-storey venue in Camden, opened to more than 200 VIP guests as well as some regular punters and the king of the Zulu people.
The presence of King Goodwill Zwelithini, chief monarch of the Zulus, and Queen Mantfombi – as well as Amy Whinehouse, Sophie Anderton and Liz McClarnon – this week certainly added a bit of wow and celebrity factor to the venue.
The theming is South African through and through, with some zany colouring and dishes including seared ostrich, marinated springbok and the Shaka Zulu signature dish ‘KarooLamb’ on the menu.
The opening night garnered reviews from Metro, the London Evening Standard and Daily Express, among others.
Altogether a worthy Venue of the Week and an interesting new London venue.
