He will be joined by chief executive of the Welsh Rugby Union Roger Lewis, chairman of VERO Communications Mike Lee, and Kilimanjaro CEO Stuart Galbraith at the event on 24 November at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

The conference is being organised by the Welsh Government Major Events Unit, the organisation responsible for leading public sector support for the hosting and delivery of major cultural, artistic and sporting events in Wales.

It will be opened with a keynote address by the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, and will conclude with a networking reception, sponsored by the Celtic Manor Resort the venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup, with entertainment by the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama students.

Jones said: "Hosting this inaugural Event Wales International Conference demonstrates the confidence that we have in our events industry in Wales and in our growing capability of hosting high profile international events.

"Since we launched our Major Events Strategy in 2010 we have been able to develop a broad portfolio of high profile events which make the most of our unique heritage, culture and landscape, and enhance Wales’ international profile and reputation. I’m confident that the conference will play a key role in shaping our events industry for the future and in positioning Wales as an outstanding destination for major events," she added.
