Reed Exhibition Companies (REC) has appointed former Clarke Hooper chief executive officer Andrew Roberts managing director of its UK division. He took up the position in late February replacing David Woods.
Roberts said: 'Demand on the time of all business people means we see our customers and suppliers much less than is needed to maximise business opportunities. The dynamic of people coming together to source or renew business contacts as well as meet with industry colleagues is only really possible in the exhibition environment.
'I am delighted to be joining such a professional company, which truly represents the marketing cutting edge,' he added. 'I have not even had a chance to meet everybody in the business so it would be ludicrous to talk about new developments. I need to get a really detailed understanding of the business. There is a lot for me to tune into.
'There are lots of business development proposals in the pipeline. I do not want to be any more specific given the competitive nature of the business. We are keen to launch exhibitions and we are constantly looking to see if there is support for new shows. A large team works on new developments at Reed,' Roberts concluded.
REC Europe president Michael Breet said: 'I believe Roberts' background in marketing and account management, together with his strong teamwork approach and profit focus, will help him lead REC UK to fulfil its potential in exhibition organising in an era of ever increasing multimedia technology and activities.'
