The dinner experience, based on the best-selling children’s book The Twits, will be presented by Les Enfants Terribles and Ebp, in association with Bompas & Parr and creative company Creature of London, and will take place at The Vaults in Waterloo, London from 4 September to 30 October.
Guests will join Mr and Mrs Twit inside their windowless house and ‘ghastly' garden for a 90-minute show with a banquet of ‘disgusting' dishes, including bird pie, plus homemade cocktails containing fish eyes, Mr Twit’s special brew and Mrs Twit’s potent punch.
This will be the very first time one of Dahl’s titles has been adapted into a production specifically for adults.
Oliver Lansley, of Les Enfants Terribles, said: "Dinner at the Twits will give adults the opportunity to explore those boundaries between disgust and delight, to come up close and personal with the hideous hairy Twits and to be taken on a multi-sensory journey through Dahl’s bizarre world."
Harry Parr, of Bompas & Parr, added: "We have always been fascinated by food taboos, and the gleefully grotesque universe of the Twits seems to us the perfect place to probe the limits of gastronomic experimentation."
A series of events are taking place throughout 2016 to celebrate 100 years since Roald Dahl's birth. In March, the Coca-Cola London Eye teamed up with Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the West End to deliver an interactive experience aboard its capsules.
