The Riverbank Park Plaza hotel, situated on the south bank, will open its doors on 4 April, with the Haymarket Events-organised annual awards ceremony for live events and exhibitions due to take place on 7 October.
The hotel offers five areas for organisers to host events ranging from product launches to gala dinners. The Thames Room has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river and can accommodate up to 200 delegates.
The Ballroom can host up to 800 delegates theatre-style, over 500 guests for dinner or up to 900 for a reception. The Plaza Suite can host 500 for a reception or be divided into a maximum of 10 syndicate rooms while The Park Suites on the hotel's mezzanine level will be available for private dining, board meetings and seminars.
Haymarket Events chose the four-star hotel, which is opposite the Tate Britain art gallery, because of its location and to give organisers an opportunity to view the new facilities.
"The hotel will be the perfect setting to celebrate excellence and innovation in exhibitions and live events," said event manager Zoe Theobold. "The response to our chosen venue has been superb and we're expecting attendance levels that will surpass previous years."
The closing date for entries to the Event Awards 2005 is 3 June. The awards are split into eight categories for live event activity, seven categories for exhibition activity and a set of seven combined effectiveness by sector categories.
