This year the lights are being sponsored by Jo Malone London, the latest retailer to join the central London locale.
The installation by Act Lighting Design symbolises the suspension of time, and it will include tailored video animations, projections and lights in constant transformation.
Timeless Elegance aims to capture the symbolism and authenticity of the festive season, and takes its inspiration from Regent Street’s heritage, its history of watch making, photographs of the street’s first Christmas lights in 1954, and the Lumière brother’s cinematography.
Regent Street will be closed off from 12pm on 15 November to make way for the switch-on celebrations, which will include a Christmas show.
Cheryl Joannide, vice president general manager at Jo Malone London, said: "This Christmas we open the doors to our first global premier boutique on Regent Street and are delighted to be sponsoring the Christmas Lights.
"Steeped in British heritage with the perfect synergy of tradition and modernity, Regent Street perfectly reflects the values and provenance of Jo Malone London."
David Shaw, head of the Regent Street portfolio, added: "We are thrilled that Jo Malone London, the latest brand to join Regent Street, will be sponsoring this year’s Christmas Lights. It is a perfect collaboration as the brand embodies both the spirit of Christmas as well as reflecting the Regent Street values, namely quality, heritage, style and success."
Oxford Street announced its Christmas light partnership with Pandora last week. The lights were switched on during an event yesterday (1 November).
