It is made of polypropylene with a thin resin lacquer backing which holds the fibres in place. The carpet can be converted into mouldable plastic pellets when heated and compressed. These can then be used to construct components such as storage boxes.
Around 4,000sqm of the carpet was used at The Pig and Poultry Show at Stoneleigh Park Exhibition Centre from 9-10 May and was completely recycled.
Reeds Carpeting executive sales co-ordinator Clare Reed said: "We're confident this is just what the exhibition and events industry is seeking in order to minimise post-show wastage and keep landfill charges down."
