Reed Exhibitions Companies (REC) has bought the remaining 50% stake in TML Reed Exhibitions of South Africa.
The company owned the other half of TML and bought the remainder from Times Media. TML will trade under the new name of Reed Exhibitions - South Africa once it gets permission from the South African government.
'We bought the first stake a few months after the country's first election and as South Africa has developed economically and politically, we have grown,' said TML Reed Exhibitions director Howard Kleine.
TML has 21 exhibitions focused on the industrial, IT & communications and hospitality and marketing sectors. It plans to expand into other areas.
'We are a growing business, not just within our core sector but new ones as well,' said Kleine. 'We recognise the need for smart partnerships with public and private bodies and we are expanding our brands into new areas.'
REC chairman Mike Rusbridge added: 'I am delighted that REC is able to solidify its position in South Africa. We are committed to developing the market and I am confident that our team can respond to the changing needs and high expectations of our customers.'
