REC eyes Promota rival

Reed Exhibition Companies (REC) is launching a promotion and incentive show to rival Promota.

Reed Exhibition Companies (REC) is launching a promotion and incentive show to rival Promota. The Premium Sourcing Show will be held at Olympia from 21-22 May 2002 and is aimed at manufacturers and suppliers. Promota, the trade association-run event is held annually in March at the NEC. “We approached Promota about a collaboration and they chose not to engage in that conversation,” Reed Exhibition Companies UK managing director Andrew Roberts said. “The market needs a London show and we have the skills, knowledge, content and support of the British Promotional Merchandise Association.” The exhibition will not compete with Incentive World, held in February at Earls Court 2 or the National Incentive Show, held in Birmingham in September. Both are organised by REC. “Marketing directors, buyers and purchasers are attracted to visit Incentive World and the National Incentive Show, with exhibitors coming from a wide spectrum of industries and services,” The Premium Sourcing Show exhibition director Les Weir said. “Our show will seek an audience of trade buyers with our exhibitors being exclusively manufacturers, making it a true trade event.” REC anticipates about 150 exhibitors and more than 2,000 visitors to the first event.
