Quantum sells booze brands

Publishing house Quantum Business Media has sold its licensed trade division to United Business Media (UBM), including both the Pub and Bar exhibition and trade magazine The Publican. The publishing and events assets of the division were acquired for £21m last month and will become part of UBM's United Advertising Publications (UAP) division. The new additions will complement UAP's existing business title, Daltons Weekly.

The Pub and Bar trade exhibition is scheduled to go ahead as planned on the 19-21 April at London's Olympia. A spokesperson for the show confirmed that the same team will continue working on the exhibition and UBM will invest in its future development.

Pub and Bar attracts around 6,500 visitors from the licensed trade industry.

UAP chairman Charles Gregson said: "These leading licensed trade publishing assets will give further breadth and depth to the range of specialist products available to UAP's business clients. The financial case is attractive and we have identified the opportunity to develop new and existing revenue streams."

This is the first part of the Quantum portfolio to be sold off since the publishing house was put up for sale by venture capitalist firm and majority shareholder ABN Amro last year.
