Print and publishing show IPEX attracted 65,451 visitors (unaudited) and 1,200 exhibitors at this year’s event. The show ran at the NEC from 9-17 April. The show is organised by IIR Exhibitions and takes place once every four years. Attendance was down on 1998 levels, but was in line with expectations. IIR marketing director Ashley Whitworth said: “The global printing market has been in recession, particularly over the past year, so we were expecting numbers to fall. But we are pleased with the increase of international visitors and the presence of senior people who control the purse strings.” Overseas visitors to IPEX accounted for 36% of the total attendance, and the proportion of senior personnel that attended the show jumped 5% to 70%.
