Prince Andrew flies in to open Confex 2003

The meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions industry was commended for the role it plays in helping business tourism by the Duke of York at the launch of International Confex 2003 at Earls Court.

Speaking at the London show's opening ceremony, Prince Andrew said that attracting business tourism, worth £16bn a year, was crucial to the UK and that the event industry was of ext-reme importance.

The prince stayed at the show for an hour touring exhibitors. His visit ended with a meeting with Confex's hosted buyers.
