Two classic venues and a modern hotel to check out at RSVP 08.

THE HEMPEL

Where is it? On Craven Hill Gardens, near Hyde Park.

What is it? A five-star boutique hotel created by acclaimed British designer Anouska Hempel.

What's it got? The hotel boasts seven distinct event areas. The largest, the Zen Garden, has three symmetrical ponds and space for up to 600 guests for a reception or 350 seated. No 17 has a reception area and private terrace overlooking the garden and can hold up to 120, while No 35 is ideal for gatherings of up to 60. The 90-cover restaurant, I-Thai, is also available to hire, as is the Lobby, a unique setting for up to 180. Two smaller rooms, the Portland and Jade, can be used for meetings of 16-18 people.

CAFE DE PARIS

Where is it? On Coventry Street, sandwiched between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square.

What is it? Cafe de Paris opened in 1924 and has hosted many lavish parties. It still maintains some original features.

What's it got? With a rich velvet decor, sweeping staircase and a glittering chandelier, the venue is ideal for champagne receptions and product launches, and from Sunday to Thursday can be hired on an exclusive basis, including its three private rooms. The Ballroom can hold up to 500 guests, the VIP room 110, the Blue Bar 70 and the Red Bar 35. On Fridays and Saturdays, when the venue is open to the public, the private bars can be hired individually.

THE LAW SOCIETY

Where is it? Located on Chancery Lane, just off Fleet Street.

What is it? The Law Society is home to the representative body for solicitors in England and Wales.

What's it got? The building opened in 1832 and is of a neo-classical design, with large, sweeping staircases, marble pillars and stained-glass windows. The Common Room can seat up to 280 people and is close to the venue's syndicate rooms. For smaller events up to 65 guests, the stately Old Council Chamber has its own catering area. Alternatively, the light and airy Six Clerks Room, located on the ground floor next to the refurbished Restaurant and Bar, can cater for meetings up to 20. All rooms have air-conditioning, natural daylight and modern furniture.
