"They want you to pay for policing of roads leading to an event and then have no control of traffic," said Goldsmith.
He added that police costs were rising prohibitively and that there was a general failure to support events in the UK compared to other partys of the world.
Other nations, Goldsmith said, are proud of events and use them to promote whichever destination they are held in.
Goldsmith was speaking yesterday (Tuesday 22 September) in Birmingham's NEC as one of Event UK's keynote speakers.
