Uber users in a total of 253 cities across 59 countries could select an ice cream van alongside Uber’s regular X, XL, Exec, Lux and Taxi options.
In the UK, portable ice cream parlours served up Wall’s Cornettos to requesters in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.
A central hub in the capital’s Shoreditch was also set up to supply Cornettos to Londoners who weren’t lucky enough to request an #UberIceCream driver.
Staffing agency Beautiful Minds Promotions worked with Uber to provide the UK event’s 212 ice cream men and women.
Uber’s stunt was, however, eclipsed yesterday (28 July) as rival transport app Gett announced a new service with Veuve Clicquot, which lets users request a bottles of champagne on-demand.
