In pictures: Moët unveils giant champagne fountain at the BIFA's

Moët & Chandon created a 2.85-metre high champagne fountain for the Moët British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) at Old Billingsgate in London last night (6 December).


Guests including Julie Walters, Elliot Grove and Jim Sturgess poured Moët into the installation, which was comprised of gold champagne bottles and countless glasses, and constructed in the shape of a pyramid.

Actors including Carey Mulligan, Gemma Chan, Agyness Deyn, Iain Canning and Helena Bonham Carter were snapped in front of the fountain, meanwhile Kate Winslet and Colin Farrell were also in attendance. 

Each of the winners on the night received a personalised, branded champagne bottle, and approximately 500 bottles of champagne were consumed throughout the evening. 

This marks the sixth consecutive year that the champagne brand has sponsored the awards, which are now in their 18th year. The event was live-streamed via the BIFA website for those who were unable to attend. 

The film Ex Machina received four awards – Best British Independent Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay for Alex Garland and Outstanding Achievement in Craft for its visual effects.

Saoirse Ronan was named Best Actress, meanwhile Tom Hardy took out the Best Actor gong.

"Guests joined us in pouring Moët & Chandon Champagne into a giant champagne pyramid to toast a year of amazing film achievements."

Laurence Green, chairman of the BIFA board, added: "As part of our mission to build the widest audience we can for British independent film, it is BIFA's great honour to celebrate the cream of the crop once a year at the Moët British Independent Film Awards. This year's winners speak volumes, not just for their excellence but also for the undimmed ambition and beautiful diversity of the stories they tell."

Last month saw Moët host a VIP party for guests within a pop-up space at the ATP World Tour final at London's The O2.
