Construction company Mace celebrated its 25th anniversary at Old Billingsgate in London last night (24 June) with a Guinness World Record-breaking immersive experience, delivered by events company Private Drama.

More than 1,000 guests, comprised of Mace’s clients, partners, stakeholders and employees, attended the event and were surprised with an immersive aerial silk performance that attempted to break a Guinness World Record.

Mace, which is famous for building The Shard, brought together a team of 25 aerial performers to form the "Mace Spirit of Adventure" aerial performance team to successfully break the record for the ‘most people performing aerial silks’ in a synchronised routine in the air.

The event aimed to to celebrate the company’s achievements of reshaping urban skylines across the world, the adventure of building and maintaining some of the world’s most iconic structures, and the company’s ambitious vision for the future.

As guests entered the Old Billingsgate market, they were greeted with a photo gallery display in homage to the various Mace employees, from architects to administrative staff to construction workers. There was also a Mace timeline graphic, which showed the first to the latest iconic building projects, with images of sites and staff.

The event featured five models models in trompe l'œil body paint, masquerading as The Shard, City Hall and other Mace monuments and building projects.

Mark Reynolds, chief executive at Mace, said: "We are delighted to announce the achievement of a Guinness World Records title for the Mace ‘Spirit of Adventure’ aerial performance team. Mace is a company that thrives on adventure, challenge and opportunity.

"We have a track record of doing things bolder and better when delivering our projects such as The Shard in London and tonight we brought this to life at our 25th anniversary event."

Adam Blackwood, creative director of Private Drama, added: "Aerial Dance was an obvious choice for us to highlight the story Mace has to share on its 25th anniversary, while simultaneously elevating the breathtaking and dramatic artform of aerial silks by achieving a Guinness World Records title on the day.

"Guests were able to take part in the sidelines of a history-making Guinness Wolrd Record moment while highly polished content sharing post-event will amplify the story and share a visually stunning performance with the world."
