The Christmas Arcade pop-up, which sells a range of Fortnum & Mason products, has been developed in-house in partnership with the Skate at Somerset House ice skating rink. Overlooking the icy installation, the ground floor of the venue’s West Wing has been transformed into a 15-room shopping arcade.
The shopping experience also includes Fortnum’s Lodge, a dining area that offers light meals in the daytime and a range of vermouths, schnapps, cocktails and Champagnes, tipsy hot chocolates and mulled cider, alongside sweet and savoury fondues, at night.
The brand has also announced plans to host Glad Tidings Tuesdays at the activation each week, which will feature live entertainment from celebrated choirs. The Christmas Arcade will also host a number of special events in the evening, including a ‘Meet the makers’ session with the creators of Fortnum’s festive offerings, food tastings, demonstrations and a skate-while-you-wait shopping service.
From tonight (13 November) until 8 January, the Christmas activation will host club nights with DJs from the Ministry of Sound, music label Ninja Tune and Austrian festival Snowbombing. DJs Toddla T and Chimpo will also be making appearances.
