The charity’s celebrity ambassadors Richard Madeley, Sara Cox, Allen Leech and Charlie Webster also took part in the annual Sleep Out. Two central London venues were set up to host volunteers in Old Truman Brewery and West India Key, alongside a further ten locations nationwide including the Eden Project in Cornwall and Provident Stadium in Bradford.

Cox performed an ‘ultimate 1980s disco’ DJ set for the 800 guests at the Old Truman Brewery, while actor Christopher Biggins read a bedtime story to the crowd.

Those taking part experienced the realities of homelessness such as cold weather, damp, loud noise and tiredness. Sleep Out raised £300,000 for Centrepoint in total.

Seyi Obakin, Centrepoint’s chief executive, said: "Sleep Out is our flagship event. Not only does it raise a huge amount of money, but it also shines a crucial spotlight on the issue of youth homelessness. It is fantastic, that year on year, Sleep Out continues to grow and involve more and more people in the fight to end youth homelessness."
