Party Clinic: Words of Wisdom - Unlikely Party Planner

Capita Symonds business development co-ordinator Sophie Brading on staff parties.

Outline your party planning activities?

I organise a variety of large staff events including Christmas and summer parties for between 150 and 170 people, for property and infrastructure consultants Capita Symonds.

What are the challenges involved?

The biggest challenge I face is making sure everyone is happy and to continue coming up with fresh and innovative ideas that will keep all the guests entertained throughout the evening.

How important is finding a good venue?

This is paramount - one of the most important factors. The venue has to be in a central location with interesting surroundings. It should be able to supply excellent food and have room for extra entertainment.

What is the best party you have organised so far?

A James Bond-themed party that included a pianist, casino, a three-course meal and, of course, a selection of vodka martinis shaken and not stirred.

What are the perks of being a party organiser?

Seeing all the hard work that I have put

into organising the event being enjoyed by my colleagues.
