Partners for Abu Dhabi venue

Four of the world’s key exhibition organisers have signed a long-term agreement with the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) to stage shows at its new venue.

Four of the world’s key exhibition organisers have signed a long-term agreement with the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) to stage shows at its new venue.

Reed Exhibitions, CMP Information, IIR (Middle East) and DMG World Media have signed up as ‘foundation partners’ and committed to a combined total of 30 shows at the 57,000sqm exhibition centre.

The first phase of its development is scheduled for completion at the end of the year, with the second due to complete in 2008. Shows confirmed for 2007 include Reed Travel Events’ new Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings exhibition from 27-29 March and IIR’s CityScape Abu Dhabi from 8-10 May.

Jessica Sutherland, IIR Middle East general manager, said: “IIR Middle East is the largest event organiser in the region and our success is founded on being first to market. We will be launching at least nine new exhibitions in Abu Dhabi over the next two years and we’re very excited at the tremendous opportunity the new venue represents.”

The NEC’s former commercial director, Simon Horgan, is the venue’s chief executive. “The four partners, which combined organise more than 1,000 shows worldwide, have recognised the huge potential for exhibitions in Abu Dhabi and have committed themselves to making the most of the unrivalled opportunities on offer,” he said.
