Opex asks for commitment to shell prices

Opex group managing director Andy Gibb has responded to fears that a price war over shell scheme stocks could spiral out of control if the cost of basic stand units keeps falling.

Gibb presented eight new shell scheme designs to the Association of Exhibition Organisers (AEO) council which selected enhanced Octanorm and Modul units and agreed a price of around £15 a metre for them.

But Gibb has asked for orders of at least 90,000sq m over the next three years before acquiring any stock.

The AEO has warned that if the price of UK shell scheme remains at around £8 a metre a supplier could be forced out of business.
