For the first time, organisers have created a public event for the ceremony on 15 April, which marks the culmination of the London theatre awards season.

It will take place in Covent Garden piazza alongside the Royal Opera House where the awards are being held. Visitors can watch the live screening of the awards as well as performances from West End shows from 4pm.

The free show will be presented with radio station Magic 105.4 and hosted by Magic’s breakfast presenter Neil Fox and musical theatre star Louise Dearman.

The ceremony will also be streamed in a live relay to a reception at New York’s Frederick P Rose Hall on Broadway – due to the time difference, brunch will be served to the invited audience of UK and US theatre stars.

The Royal Opera House is holding the awards for the first time this year after they took place at London's Theatre Royal in 2011. West End performers Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton will present the ceremony.
