O2 signs £6m sponsorship deal at Dome

The Dome has been renamed as The O2 after a £6m a year sponsorship deal between owner Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and mobile services giant O2.

The partnership runs from 2007 when the multi-billion pound entertainment complex reopens. The two companies plan to bring music and content to O2 phones, while providing O2 customers with VIP privileges at the venue, as well as mobile ticketing and event guide downloads.

The centrepiece of the venue will be an indoor arena for up to 23,000 visitors and AEG is aiming to host at least 120 events and exhibitions in the first year.
