Upper Street Events' The Gadget Show Live attracted nearly 70,000 visitors as it returned to the NEC for its second outing, but bigger things are planned for next year, according to organisers.

The show, which took place from 7-11 April, sold out 'weeks ago' according to Upper Street Events event director Matt Hodgins, meaning that people had to be turned away at the door.

"We managed to attract around 8,000 people through the doors when the show opened, a record for the NEC. This was possible because we had an efficient scanning method and the show had sold out before it began," Hodgins told Event.

He added that there were people queuing for the show as early as 6am.

Attractions at the event including an auditorium show featuring the show's presenters and projections using Musion Eyeliner technology.

Exhibitors included Panasonic, XBox, Sony and Packard Bell. Product launches included the YikeBike, an electronic, foldable transportation device.

"Next year we're hoping the show will be even bigger. There is no major UK-based competition for the show. We are planning to open it up to another hall and add an extra day," Hodgins added.
