The event, organised by the Mayor of London, will be viewable by millions live on BBC One. There will be a musical soundtrack specially mixed live on the night by BBC Radio 1's DJ Nihal.
Similar to last year, designated viewing areas will close once they are full, and those thinking of attending are being advised to plan their journey and expect delays on their journey home.
"We are now in our sixth year of working on the New Year's Eve Celebrations, and are very pleased to be continuing our partnership with the Greater London Authority on this event until 2011. We are privileged to be part of an event which instils such pride in London and showcases what it is capable of delivering," said EVP Managing Director, EMEA, Jack Morton Worldwide, Julian Pullan.
The Mayor Boris Johnson said: "London will bring in 2010 with a bang, a glittering explosion across the midnight sky. We want to show to the world that we are looking forward to the future with the optimism and energy that characterises our capital and makes it the most exciting city on earth."

Nice story but let's be real. Jack Mortons are an event company hiring a pyrotechnics company to do all this work. Jack Morton's don't do pyrotechnics - so why not profile the pyro experts and give credit where it is due?

Good point, Michael. How can we expect the government to make the required budget cuts if it can't even buy a firework display without going through an agent?
