European hotel and conference group, Principal Hayley, has rescued London event space The New Connaught Rooms from the brink of closure.
Event reported earlier this year how The New Connaught Rooms had been placed into administration following the collapse of its parent company The Real Hotel Company.
As part of the acquisition, Principal Hayley will be undertaking a £7m refurbishment programme during July and August to return the venue to its former glory.
When it re-opens in September it will be re-launched as The Grand Connaught Rooms.
The group has also recently acquired the historic Glasgow Central Hotel in Glasgow, which will re-open in February 2010 as the The Grand Central Hotel.
"Even in today's challenging economic climate we are confident that our unique model of offering an ‘a la carte selection of high quality city centre hotels and dedicated conference, event and training venues is one which will continue to appeal to both the corporate and leisure markets alike and this acquisition further enforces our commitment to grow," said Principal Hayley CEO Tony Troy.
