The festival was conceived by Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans and organised by agency Brand Events to raise money for charity Children in Need.

Tickets to the Laverstoke Park event sold out in 40 minutes and a second event, Carfest North, was soon announced for Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire from 8-9 September.

Hundreds of supercars and classic cars were on display, and there were appearances from motor sport personalities.

Live music came from acts including Texas, Razorlight and The Magic Numbers.

Food also played a part, with a 'Britain's Best' food pavilion and Cakes vs Pies contest judged by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, stars The Great British Bake Off.
