The Torch was greeted by Locog Chairman Sebastian Coe, Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Mayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman, and Colonel Dick Harrold, governor of the Tower of London.

Olympic gold medalist Kelly Holmes became London’s first torchbearer. The torch was then used as the lamp light in the Ceremony of the Keys and secured in the tower overnight before beginning its journey around London.

Blue Strawberry served an array of canapés at the event, including parmesan custard on a crisp wafer with grilled artichoke, chopped truffles and rocket cress, and Loch Duart salmon mousse rolled in smoked salmon on toasted lava bread with tomato and caper dressing.
