The Streb Extreme Action performers abseiled down City Hall, bungee jumped off the Millennium Bridge and performed a human fountain in Trafalgar Square, before the grand finale in which 30 acrobats shimmied down the spokes of the London Eye.

Choreographed by the troupe’s founder Elizabeth Streb, the Surprises: Streb performance showcased dare-devil feats of extreme athleticism.

The performance was part of the 12-week London 2012 festival celebrating the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad.

Ruth Mackenzie, director of the London 2012 Festival, said the act was a "wonderful and inspiring element" of the festival. "We’re in the middle of a truly amazing series of events," she said.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said the performers brought "awe-inspiring jeopardy" to London’s landmark buildings. "I am thrilled that we've been able to bring Elizabeth Streb's incredible dancers to the capital."
