- London Pleasure Gardens open with a free Paradise Gardens Festival and spectacular pyrotechnics show Silo D
The World Famous, who produced the Titanic anniversary show in Belfast, created an exclusive act called Silo D that was inspired by the 1917 Silvertown explosion and was staged on a grade-ii listed building that was built to replace those destroyed when the munitions factory exploded.
The show included pyrotechnics, performance, lighting and projection, and was also part of the London 2012 Festival. Click here to see pictures from the evening. Images by Sean Gavey.
The Pleasure Gardens have been built on a former wasteland at Pontoon Dock. It already features two purpose built venues – the hub and the dome – as well as an art and design trail, art sculptures, a nature reserve and a 27,000 sqm open space that can host bespoke events.
Over the coming months, a pop-up hotel and floating cocktail bar are set to open, and more attractions will unfold as the site develops over the next three years.
