Guests were treated to an oyster bar, fish and chips and sausage and mash followed by toffee apples, candy floss, doughnuts and ice cream tubs.

The Deck transformed into a traditional seaside pleasure pier, complete with seagulls, bunting, fairground sound effects, a fortune teller and authentic 1950s arcade games from Rye Heritage Centre.

Visitors could also upload photos to The Deck’s Facebook page for a chance to win a two-night stay at a boutique hotel in Brighton.

Kat Parker, head of sales and hospitality events at The Deck, said: "’A Pier on The Deck’ was a great way for us to show our exclusive event space in a new light, and a new era. In a year of nostalgia and celebration of all things British we had great fun transforming The Deck into a quintessential seaside pier."
