New director at Mack Brooks

Medialive International man- aging director Håkan Gershagen has joined exhibition organiser Mack Brooks Exhibitions as commercial director.

Medialive International man- aging director Håkan Gershagen has joined exhibition organiser Mack Brooks Exhibitions as commercial director. He will take up his post on 2 February and will focus on global product development. “Mack Brooks appeals because it is a British private company rather than a US plc coming out of bankruptcy as was the case with Medialive,” said Gershagen. “While details are yet to be finalised, I will add to the business development programme, focusing on international launches.” Mack Brooks chairman Stephen Brooks said: “We are delighted to have one of the industry’s proven entrepreneurs joining us. His international show development experience and capability will be well exercised at Mack Brooks.” With more than 30 years experience in the industry, Gershagen worked at Reed Exhibitions as business development director Europe before setting up his own Swedish exhibition company Exponova in 1996, which he sold to Medialive in April last year. He is also non-executive director on the board of the Stockholm Halls, and chairman of the advisory board of exhibition forum organiser XM Europe. Medialive president Kim Myhre said Gershagen would not be replaced. “It was a great benefit to us to have him but we didn’t recruit that role – he came into the business when we acquired Exponova,” he commented. Myhre added: “Gershagen is interested in the core trade show business and has decided that he wants to do other things.”
