Positioned high up on the roof of the National Theatre, The Deck’s translucent walls are perfect for enclosing a winter woodland scene, specially created by the theatre’s expert set designers.
Greeted by the aroma of roasting chestnuts, guests should keep on scarves and gloves as they step onto snow-covered ground, brush past real trees and sit upon felled logs to make the most of winter cocktails and canapés. Through the ‘forest clearing’ surrounding them, guests can admire The Deck’s breathtaking skyline vista, enjoying panoramic views over St Paul’s and the banks of the River Thames. As the night draws in, this giant Snow Globe in the sky will truly come to life as snowflakes fall inside the space to shake up the evening.
A Snow Globe menu package, courtesy of Head Chef Simon Flint, includes canapé creations such as goose rillette with fig chutney; beetroot marinated gravadlax; pigs in blankets and port poached pear; and Roquefort on pecan and walnut bread. Follow this with bowls of venison stew with baby shallots, mashed neeps and tatties; as well as porcini mushroom and chestnut risotto. A very merry sherry trifle completes the offering alongside a selection of sweets – many hanging from the trees for the taking (think candy canes and gingerbread men). With bespoke winter cocktails on arrival and unlimited house wine and beer, The Deck is guaranteed to have everyone feeling festive.
